They say everything is bigger in Texas. Well, I'm about to find out....
I have been offered a job within my company that requires me to relocate..just slightly! I am moving to Austin, Texas! I start my new job on Sept. 26th. September 26th is exactly 3 weeks from today. "Freaking out" doesn't even begin to describe my nerves. Not about the job, just about this lovely move! Luckily, I have family in Austin which makes this whole process much easier...
So, last I checked, Texas is in the south. For a guy who has lived for 30 years, and spent all 30 in the midwest, this is going to be quite a culture shock to the system. No more snow, no more deep freeze to kill all the bugs, no more crisp mornings on football Saturdays and Sundays in the fall. But at the same time... no more shoveling driveways, no more chipping away at the 2 inch piece of ice covering everything in sight, and no more dealing with people who simply can't drive in bad weather. So all in all??? Not that bad!
I've heard that my blood will thin, and I will get used to the climate. Does that mean I am going to be one of those people who, when they come back to the midwest, wears a down jacket, gloves, and a hat....when its 40 degrees???? I can't let this happen...
Moral of the story?? Things are about to change for me, in a very drastic way.
A place where its mostly sunny over 300 days per year?
A city renowned for its music and party scene?
An area where the people don't even know what "freezing" feels like?
Ya... I can live with that! Here I come Texas...
